I saw this stock photo and just couldn't imagine it WITHOUT the eye in the apple.

I made a soft feathered selection around one eye and copied it to a new layer, set the layer blending mode to Luminosity allowing the apple's natural green color to be seen with the woman's skin texture (shown here without apple for illustration purposes). I cut around a copy of the eye removing from the eyelashes outward so the color of the eye would show...

... and suddenly the apple was looking at me.
